Jusuf Nurkic, Draymond Green Trade Shots After Suns-Warriors
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns were unable to complete the season series sweep over the Golden State Warriors thanks to a Steph Curry game-winning three-pointer with nearly no time left on the clock.
Curry's dagger isn't exactly the talking point of the two sides.
Last night was the first meeting between Jusuf Nurkic and Draymond Green since Green struck Nurkic in the face back in December, which led to an indefinite suspension for the Warriors forward which lasted until recent.
Action at Chase Center was packed with a few antics from both sides, from Green clapping rowdily to get the home crowd going and - per usual - talking his typical trash. Nurkic returned the favor by hitting him with the "too low" sign after getting a bucket, though it's fair to say Green outplayed Nurkic in a loss that snapped Phoenix's winning streak.
Certainly - there's no love lost.
"It's sad,” Nurkic told The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin after the game.
“He didn't learn anything, man. Just a matter of time. He's going to knock somebody else again. Take everything back what I said. He don't deserve a chance. ... Just his antics. Try to hit people. The stuff he shouldn’t do, but I don’t care. At the end of the day, he tried to play that way. No one is worried about him. They got the win tonight. We’ll see what happens in a few games.”
Green also made himself available.
"You can't be a nothing defender if you're going to do that," Green said on Nurkic. "You probably outweigh me by 70 pounds and you get put in the rim? Got to be more careful.
"I thought I was great tonight. He tried to get in my head, and it didn't work. If he wants me to walk around quiet, like him, I'm never going to do that. Quiet guys don't win. He can keep rocking with that same horse that he rode in on. He can ride his ass right out of here on that same horse. It's not working."
Needless to say if the two sides meet in the postseason - grab your popcorn.
