Kevin Love Reportedly Eying Suns in Free Agency
The Phoenix Suns are prepared to add more talent via free agency after making some splash trades, though they will be a bit limited.
The Suns have over $160 million in salary committed to Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Deandre Ayton. When Phoenix goes to add outside talent on the free agent market, the Suns will be forced to take the vet minimum route.
That can be fruitful, according to Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro.
“There’s a concern from other teams that everybody is going to go to Phoenix before anywhere else, because of playing time. A chance to win and playing time," Gambo said.
When it comes to potential free agents who could arrive to the Valley, there's some big names that have already been tied to the organization.
Kyrie Irving is reportedly set to meet with the Suns, and now we can add Kevin Love to the potential mix.
Action Network's Matt Moore is reporting the Suns and Los Angeles Lakers are on Love's list of targeted teams.
"Love is weighing several options on where to continue his career next season after being bought out and proving to be a key part of Miami’s Finals run. But the Lakers are considered one team, along with the Suns, to be on Love’s list, which is expected to continue to grow before he eventually signs," Moore said.
Love feels like a great fit in Phoenix, as the Suns could use both his strong shooting and veteran presence/experience. The five-time All-Star is a career 37% three-point shooter and would help spread the floor as both a power forward and center.
Would he arrive on a veteran minimum? Love reportedly has made $265 million in career earnings, so perhaps money isn't an issue for somebody who is looking to add another ring to the collection.
