Luka Doncic Hits Massive Milestone vs Suns

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic crossed the 10,000 point threshold on Christmas against the Phoenix Suns.

PHOENIX -- Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic has established himself as one of the premier players in the NBA - and now he's hit a career milestone against the Phoenix Suns

Doncic needed just 11 points entering tonight to cross the 10,000 point club for his NBA career.

He did that with ease in the early portions of the game, crossing the achievement with a deep three in the first quarter that put him at 12 points to go along with three rebounds and two assists.

Doncic crossed the milestone in his 358th career game.

According to NBA Communications, he is the sixth player to reach 10,000 career regular-season points before turning 25, joining LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady.

Doncic already has a strong hold on Mavericks history, per DallasBasketball.com:

"Regarding franchise accolades, Doncic already has the most games scoring at least 35, 40, 45, or 50 points in Mavs history, along with recently passing Jason Terry for the sixth most in franchise history. The Slovenian superstar has done significant re-writing of the team history book and will continue." - Grant Afseth

Per StatMuse, Doncic has a 5-11 record vs Phoenix in his career.

Entering tonight, he is averaging 32.9 points per night on 48.5% shooting to pair with 8.6 rebounds, 9.1 assists and 1.3 steals on average.

Doncic is in his sixth year with the Mavericks after being taken third overall in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks before being dealt to Dallas. He's played in at least 61 games in every season thus far.
