Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving Questionable for Suns-Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks could be without two key pieces on Wednesday night when they host the Phoenix Suns.

PHOENIX -- The Dallas Mavericks could be without two of their biggest names on Wednesday night when the Phoenix Suns arrive to town.

Luka Doncic is questionable with lower back tightness while Kyrie Irving is questionable with a right thumb sprain.

Also on the injury report for Dallas is Dante Exum (right plantar sprain) and Seth Curry (left ankle sprain) - both questionable.

As for Phoenix, Eric Gordon is questionable with right wrist soreness while Bol Bol (right foot sprain) and Damion Lee (knee) are ruled out.

The Suns approach Wednesday having won their last six games while Dallas has lost their last three-of-four. The Mavericks previously won their first encounter with Phoenix on Christmas in 128-114 fashion, a game where Doncic scored 50 points.

Doncic did play on Monday for Dallas and scored 33 points to go along with 18 rebounds and 13 assists. Irving also played vs Boston on Monday and tallied 23 points with six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

"At this point in his career, in my career, particularly talking about me and Luka, it's about how we galvanize the rest of the group," Irving said via ESPN

"We help each other grow as people, and then the basketball part is the easy part. I needed mentors when I was growing up in the league, so I feel like that's the role I play here, being a very young mentor to Luka [and] to all our guys. Because I've seen a lot, I've done a lot. I failed at the highest level, I succeeded at the highest level, and I want to get back to that place."

We should hear more official updates on both players as Wednesday progresses. Suns-Mavs is set for a 6:30 PM Arizona time tip on ABC.
