Mikal Bridges Night a Smashing Success for D-backs
It was an almost perfect day for the Philadelphia native (and Phoenix Suns forward) Mikal Bridges except for a final score of 12-3 in the Diamondbacks' favor in Phoenix. Starting just after 10:30 Tuesday morning, the Dbacks were all in on fulfilling their bet made back in June to celebrate Bridges.
A new profile picture and bio were just the beginning.
The in-person festivities began later that day when Mikal and his teammates Cam Johnson and Cameron Payne arrived to watch batting practice.
He then joined the Bally Sports Pregame show in what was his first interview since Game 7 on the Western Conference Semifinals and the summer-long Kevin Durant drama. When asked about the summer Bridges noted he was happy to be staying in the valley and is looking forward to the upcoming season.
From there, it was all heat from Bridges with a first pitch that may or may not have just hit the strike zone.
Some fun taunting from the D-backs' Twitter continued throughout the game during an impressive 12-3 win.
It is no longer a mystery who Payne’s favorite baseball player is either after watching D-backs outfielder Jake McCarthy go 2-for-5 with five RBI.
Fans at Chase Field learned more about Mikal with some hard-hitting fun facts.
They wrapped up the night by singing happy birthday!
While it is clear Bridges had a good time at Chase Field his thoughts on the score do not share the same positivity.
