NBA Says Devin Booker Wasn't Fouled on Final Shot of Suns-Pacers
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns saw their seven-game winning streak snapped in Indiana last night as the Pacers mowed down a 17-point deficit and emerged on top 133-131.
The Suns saw their lead evaporate slowly over the course of the second half, and the Pacers pushed themselves ahead with an Obi Toppin clean-up basket with just seconds remaining.
Phoenix held one last opportunity to win the game, drawing up a play for Devin Booker in the closing moments:
Many believed Booker was fouled on the final shot, which included fans and coaches + players alike.
"We didn't get a foul in the fourth quarter, so can't expect to get one there," said Frank Vogel after the game.
Booker himself on if he thought he was fouled:
"Just a little bit. I don't expect them to call that in that situation."
Today, the NBA released their L2M (last two minute) report, which confirmed the officials made the correct no-call on Booker's final shot.
"Nesmith (IND) legally contests Booker's (PHX) jump shot, making "high-five" contact after the ball is released. Booker extends his leg and creates the marginal contact with Nesmith's body."
The report revealed there was only one incorrect call or no call, which came with 36 seconds left where the referee missed an offensive foul on Booker.
"Booker (PHX) extends his arm into Nesmith (IND) and dislodges him from his defensive position."
The Suns are back on the road tomorrow to battle the Orlando Magic.
