Thunder Sign Former Suns Center
PHOENIX -- The dust on the 2024 NBA trade deadline has settled, and the buyout market is now in full effect - though a familiar name was already available for the taking.
Former Phoenix Suns center Bismack Biyombo is reportedly signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the rest of the season according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
Biyombo - who entered the league in 2011 after playing overseas previously - joined the Suns in 2022 and stuck with the team through last offseason, where he hit free agency.
Biyombo took his time finding a new team, ultimately signing with the Memphis Grizzlies back in November to help replace the injured Steven Adams. He was waived by the team back on Jan. 10.
Biyombo played 30 games (starting 27) and averaged 5.2 points and 1.1 blocks with 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists with the Grizzlies.
Now, he arrives to a Thunder team that is 35-16 (second in the West, just a half game back from first) that is 7-3 in their last ten.
Meanwhile, the Suns are 10 games over .500 with a 31-21 record. They're currently five games back from first.
