Cam Johnson Says Goodbye in Emotional Instagram Post
When the Phoenix Suns landed Kevin Durant, the excitement throughout the Valley could hardly be contained.
In fact, you can still feel a buzz here that the Suns were finally able to land the elusive superstar that slipped out of their grasp over the summer. Now, Phoenix's expectations have gone through the roof in hopes of bringing home the franchise's first NBA title.
With such a massive name in Durant coming to the Suns, there was bound to be some sort of massive loss from Phoenix. Along with Jae Crowder, fan favorites in Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson were sent to Brooklyn along with four first-round picks.
Johnson - drafted by the Suns and fully embraced by everybody in the city after watching him grow up - was understandable at a loss for words when it come to leaving Phoenix.
He did his best in a recent Instagram post:
Johnson failed to secure a contract extension with the Suns earlier this season and was scheduled to hit restricted free agency in the offseason. He and Bridges were spotted courtside at the most recent Nets game, though it was an overall odd scene to see both in a new environment.
Yet both sides will eventually move on, and the Suns hope to get Durant back sometime after the All-Star break following his MCL sprain that's kept him out since early January.
