The Phoenix Suns no longer employ the talents of Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson after dealing them to the Brooklyn Nets, yet the bond formed between them and their former teammates will last for a lifetime.
That extends to gift exchanges, and though we're past the holiday season, Suns point guard Chris Paul thought he would do a nice gesture by sending Bridges a useful piece of protection to help guard Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in a potential meeting in the postseason.
A Brooklyn Nets football helmet was unveiled on Bridges' Instagram story, customized with Bridges' initials and number on the back.

Keeping Antetokounmpo away from the free throw line is a task difficult enough on its own, let alone stopping the former MVP and NBA Finals champ. He leads the league in free throw attempts (12.6 per night) and got to the line a whopping 24 times in Milwaukee's latest win over Phoenix.
Following that game, Suns coach Monty Williams spoke on the officiating when it comes to Giannis and the rest of Milwaukee:
"It's just not fair," Williams told reporters. "[Devin Booker] has three free throws, and Jrue Holiday is one of the most physical defenders in the game and he has three. Giannis [Antetokounmpo] has 24 free throws. It is ridiculous. There is no other way to put it. … That's hard to swallow when one guy [has so many free throws]. And this has happened a number of times when we play them. So for me it's hard to tell our guys to keep their level of poise, because that's frustrating. They beat us, make no mistake about it, but that is a hard one to swallow. It's happened too many times."
Sitting as the No. 6 seed in the East, Bridges and his Nets counterparts could very well run into Milwaukee in the postseason. If not, they'll see Brooklyn a few times a season anyways.
A great (and fun) gift all around from CP3.
