Suns Land Bol Bol
UPDATE: Bol Bol has signed with the Suns according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Phoenix Suns are practically done making moves to their roster after the Bradley Beal trade and a strong pool of free agents put their roster to 16 players.
However, the door is not closed on potential changes for the future, and one Suns insider believes the team could add a fresh face set to hit the open market.
Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro is reporting Bol Bol could be a possiblitity for Phoenix once he clears waivers after being released by the Orlando Magic.
Days later, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported the Suns were considered favorites around the league for Bol.
The Magic's official press release reads as the following:
"The Orlando Magic have waived forward-center Bol Bol, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today.
"Bol (7’2”, 220, 11/16/99) played in 70 games (33 starts) last season (2022-23) with Orlando, averaging 9.1 ppg., 5.8 rpg., 1.0 apg. and 1.21 blkpg. in 21.5 minpg., while shooting .546 (261-478) from the floor.
"Originally selected in the second round (44th overall) of the 2019 NBA Draft by Miami, Bol has played in 123 career NBA regular season games (35 starts) with Denver and Orlando, averaging 6.3 ppg. and 3.8 rpg. in 14.9 minpg., while shooting .533 (315-591) from the field."
Bol brings a tremendous size to the power forward position at 7-2, and he will be turning just 24-years-old later this year. For a Suns roster that already has plenty of experienced veterans on the team, perhaps taking a flyer on Bol could pay dividends down the road while also being able to sell a championship pursuit and the opportunity to work with future Hall of Fame players to the player.
