Suns' Devin Booker Ejected vs Pistons
PHOENIX -- That didn't take long.
Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker is getting an early head start to his All-Star break after being ejected against the Detroit Pistons in the first quarter after picking up two technical fouls, the second one coming after the whistle.
From PHNX's Gerald Bourguet: "Devin Booker just got his second technical foul and will be ejected. And now Frank Vogel got one for arguing the call. Super duper tight whistle tonight means Book's night is done midway through the first quarter. Overcompensating for that pregame incident."
Booker made two of five early field goal attempts for seven points with an assist, rebound and steal before departing.
With Bradley Beal out due to a hamstring injury, Kevin Durant is the lone member of Phoenix's "big three" available. He has an early two fouls and so too does Grayson Allen.
Booker and Durant will be flying to Indianapolis for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, which is set to take place this Sunday.
Detroit (and former Suns) head coach Monty Williams on Booker pre-game:
"You just saw it, now he has his own shoe and I watch it from afar and I am like, that was a pretty cool time in my life. You would think it is 10-12 years but it was only four years, you know what I am saying. He just did a lot in four years," said Williams.
"His dad, his mom and his family, I know they are proud of him. He has got a ways to go, he works his tail off. I watch his mannerisms now, I watch him lose it every once in a while. He doesn’t have me over there to tell him to cut it out. From time to time he would look over at me to see if I would say something and I’d be like, ‘stop it.’ You miss that, but at the same time I didn’t want to get in the way of it. When you are around greatness you have to let it do what it is going to do and just ride it out.”
