Devin Booker's Status vs Thunder Revealed
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns are ruling shooting guard Devin Booker as doubtful ahead of their Sunday matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Booker has played just twice this season after dealing with various lower body injuries, the most recent being a calf strain suffered last week against the San Antonio Spurs. Prior to that, he sprained his ankle in the season-opening win against the Golden State Warriors while also suffering a toe injury in preseason play.
Booker averaged 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 10.5 assists in the two games he's played thus far.
The Suns recently lost their first in-season tournament game to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday but hope to reach back to .500 against OKC after beginning the year 4-5.
Phoenix will be at home tomorrow and Wednesday when the Minnesota Timberwolves come to town. NBA insider Shams Charania reported earlier in the week Booker is making a push to return at some point during Phoenix's short stint at home.
"I'm told there's optimism Devin Booker will also return to the Suns' lineup potentially as soon as Friday. The Suns have a three-game homestand - Friday against the Lakers, Sunday against the Thunder and then next Wednesday against the Timberwolves," said Charania.
"So finally, all three of the Suns' vaunted big three of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker seem to be on the cusp of getting on the court together. That's what we've been waiting for, is seeing how this team gels with those three in the lineup."
Beal has played the last two games after suffering from lower back tightness to begin the year while Durant has been the lone star in the Valley to play every game thus far.
