Suns Forward Cam Johnson Feels Good, Hopes to Return 'Very Soon'
The Phoenix Suns haven't seen forward Cam Johnson in action since Nov. 4, where he tore his meniscus after just five minutes of game action.
It's been a largely disappointing season for Johnson - who hoped to strike a contract extension with Phoenix but ultimately failed - after only playing eight games thus far.
Sources told Inside The Suns Johnson initially targeted a Jan. 6 date to return, yet he's still progressing slowly in his return with no contact drills still occurring as of earlier this week according to the Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin:
When speaking with Rankin prior to Friday night's loss to the Timberwolves, Johnson offered the following on his return:
"Not anything firm right now. Just sometime when I get back from the trip, but I feel pretty good. Taking it one day at a time right now, but I'm looking forward to getting back soon. Very soon."
In his eight games played, Johnson has averaged 13 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per night.
In his place, the Suns have primarily started Torrey Craig at the four spot with Dario Saric sometimes plugged in when Phoenix encounters bigger lineups.
Johnson hasn't been the sole Suns player on the injury report, as guys such as Chris Paul, Devin Booker and even Deandre Ayton have accrued their fair share of missed games.
Phoenix wraps up their road trip on Monday in Memphis before returning home for a five-game home stand.
