Suns Forward Kevin Durant Fires Back at Charles Barkley After 'Sensitive' Comment
The list of accolades Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant has accomplished spans nearly a mile long.
Durant - since his arrival to Seattle - has collected milestones like Thanos collects infinity stones. All-NBA, All-Star, scoring titles, MVP, NBA Finals championships and more decorate a career that will go into the Basketball Hall of Fame with no rebuttal.
With his level of play (and success) comes criticism, especially in a league such as the NBA where former players have been very vocal on the state of today's game.
That includes Charles Barkley, a legend in the Suns organization who currently occupies a spot at the NBA on TNT desk. Talking about today's players with Barkley is a nightly occasion, and with his personality, Barkley has been known to make his opinion heard on more than one occasion.
That recently reached Durant.
“He’s very sensitive,” Barkley said of Durant on a recent episode of 60 Minutes.
“Great player. He’s part of that generation who thinks he can’t be criticized. He’s never looked in the mirror and says, ‘Man, is that a fair criticism?'”
Durant responded in a tweet of his own saying, "This ain't getting tired chuck? I'll never respect the words that come out ya mouth fam just deal with it."
This wasn't the first time Barkley has been critical of Durant.
“He was the man in Oklahoma City, they loved him, he owned the entire state. He bolts on them and wins back-to-back championships [with Golden State], and he’s still not happy. Then he goes to Brooklyn, they give him everything he wants and he’s still miserable," said Barkley back in 2022.
Durant is expected to return Wednesday when the Suns host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
