Suns Guard Bradley Beal Expected to Miss 'Weeks'
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns saw Bradley Beal play in just five regular season games heading into Friday night's matchup against the New York Knicks.
After injuring his ankle in the opening minutes of the eventual loss, the team knew his injury wasn't good and he was set to miss an unknown amount of time.
Now, we may have just received a soft timetable.
NBA insider Shams Charania is reporting Beal is expected to miss "weeks" with the injury. Suns coach Frank Vogel previously said the initial x rays were negative and classified it as an ankle sprain.
Charania on Twitter/X:
"Phoenix Suns star Bradley Beal is likely to miss a few weeks with his right ankle injury, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Good news for Beal is testing showed no major ankle damage, but it's another setback for Beal after the scary landing on a Knicks closeout Friday night."
More from Vogel after the game:
"Injuries are part of the game and [we're] disappointed for him. He's worked really hard. You could see the disappointment on his face in the back," he said.
"That's my biggest concern is just keeping him lifted. He'll get back soon enough but it's been a frustrating injury type of season for him. In terms of us, injuries are part of the game. So we can't get caught up in that. It's just part of it and you move on."
Phoenix's big three of Beal, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker have played just one game together thus far. Beal suffered from lower back injuries that has already kept him out the majority of the season
Durant wouldn't chalk it up to bad luck when asked.
"You trying to say bad luck? You believe in that? I don't even look at life that way. Sh-- happens, that's a part of it. We got a great training staff. He got great support behind him. He'll be back out there but we got bad luck? I don't believe in that," said Durant.
"No negative feeling. Just next man up. This is pro sports. We've been a part of it for a long time guys get injured. Sh-- happens. I think we rallied around each other at the end of the first half and play some solid ball."
The Suns host the Washington Wizards on Sunday, where they've already ruled Beal out.
