Ish Wainright has officially reached his total number of games on the Phoenix Suns’ roster as a two-way player.

What does this all mean?

Wainright and the Suns agreed to a two-way contract this past summer meaning that he could only play a certain amount of games with Phoenix.

Wainright averaged 4.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game during his stint with the Suns this season. Due to the recurring injuries suffered by many Phoenix players, Wainright was forced to play 42 games, ending his time with the team a lot earlier than expected.

In 45 games played last year for the Suns, Wainright averaged 2.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.3 points in only 8.0 minutes per game.

He still technically has a chance at rejoining the Suns if they were to convert his contract into a standard one. Phoenix does not have a G League affiliate to send him to.

Earlier in the week, Wainright spoke on the issue:

“I’ve got two games to play and two games to play my best and do whatever I got to do to secure my future,” Wainright said before Tuesday’s game via Duane Rankin. “I’m trying not to let it get to me. It’s out of my control.”

Despite the addition of Terrence Ross, Phoenix still could use another three point sniper like Wainright that they can count on to come off the bench. Wainright shot 33.9% from three-point range this year.

The Suns are reportedly interested in Kevin Love, who is expected to reach a buyout agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Love could potentially take Wainright's place on the bench if Phoenix decides to not bring Wainright back for the rest of the season.
