Jae Crowder Deal Could Potentially Feature up to Five Teams, per Report
Final trade talks for Phoenix Suns PF Jae Crowder could potentially involve a lot of moving parts.
There's no doubting a final resolution for Crowder and Phoenix is on the horizon. Crowder hasn't stepped foot on the court for the Suns all year, and there's been plenty of rumored teams that can only be matched by DMX's list that features Brenda, Latisha, Linda and Felicia among others.
Crowder seems to think a deal is coming soon.
NBA insiders do, too. It's a matter of if, not when.
The Suns have certainly fielded offers but are out to try and maximize their return. This can be a tad tricky when you factor in the various limitations as far as salaries, luxury tax, trade exceptions and limitations on certain players as far as availability goes.
The Golden State Warriors have entered the race for Crowder, and Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report said, "One executive told B/R that the final result could be a multi-team trade with three, four or even five NBA franchises."
He also went on to say, "The Houston Rockets may be the key to a Crowder deal (along with Dario Šarić), with Kenyon Martin Jr. and Eric Gordon the potential return for Phoenix. The Rockets would want real value back, be it quality young prospects and/or draft considerations ... Crowder, 32, may not have as many years ahead of him as the team's prospects, but he's a win-now piece. While the Suns may not love the idea of sending Crowder to a conference rival, that may not be enough of an obstacle if the team can add both Gordon and Martin in return."
The Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics have previously shown interest in Crowder as well.
The Suns probably won't care how many hands are in the cookie jar, so long as a deal gets done.
