Kevin Durant Picks Best Team, Player in NBA
PHOENIX -- The 2024 NBA All-Star Game is just one day away, and Saturday's media day featured plenty of talking points from stars across the league - including Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant.
Durant was asked to exclude the Suns when picking the best team and player thus far for the 2023-24 season:
"Every night my best player, my top five, my GOATs, I feel like every week they change," he said.
"I think this last week right before the break, Minnesota [Timberwolves] was playing good ball. [Los Angeles] Clippers are playing great ball. If anything I’ll probably say Clippers and give it to Kawhi [Leonard] as the best player I've seen."
The Clippers are currently 36-17, good enough for No. 3 in the West. They're two games behind the leading Timberwolves (39-16) and just 0.5 games back from the 37-17 Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Suns themselves aren't far behind at 33-22, sitting fifth in the West. They're six games removed from first.
When it comes to Leonard, his 1.7 steals per night ranks fourth in the NBA. He's averaging 24.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 34 minutes played.
