Suns' Kevin Durant Selected as NBA All-Star Starter
PHOENIX -- As expected, the Phoenix Suns will have representation in the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, which is set to be played in Indianapolis on Feb. 18.
After fan voting had concluded earlier in the month, the NBA announced its starting lineups for the East/West squads - with forward Kevin Durant set to start for the West alongside LeBron James and Nikola Jokic in the frontcourt. Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will start in the backcourt.
Frontcourt starters for the East are Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum. East guards are Tyrese Haliburton and Damian Lillard.
More on the voting process from ESPN:
"Fan voting counts for 50% of the formula used to select the All-Star starters, along with voting by the media (25%) and NBA players (25%). There will be three frontcourt players and two backcourt players in each starting lineup, while coaches choose the reserves.
"Earlier this season, the NBA announced that it would be going back to the old format of East vs. West for the All-Star Game, scrapping the format of captains picking teams it has used since 2018."
This will be Durant's 14th All-Star appearance, and the 35-year-old doesn't show any signs of slowing down soon.
Durant's 29.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists closely mirror his MVP campaign back in 2013-14.
This season, Durant has managed to play his 1,000th career game while also climbing into the league's official top ten scoring list.
Reserves for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game will be revealed on Feb. 1 and are selected by coaches.
