PHOENIX -- Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant was announced as the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week.

More from the team's official announcement:

"After helping the Phoenix Suns to a perfect 3-0 record over the past week, forward Kevin Durant has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for Jan. 15-21, the NBA announced today.

"This marks Durant’s 32nd career NBA Player of the Week honor, his first of the season and first as a member of the Suns. With his 32 career Player of the Week nods, he remains in third place behind only LeBron James (67) and Kobe Bryant (33) for the most Player of the Week awards in league history. Durant becomes the second Suns player to win Player of the Week honors this season after Devin Booker earned the honor for the week of Nov. 20-26.

"Durant averaged 31.0 points on 60.0% shooting (47.8% from three-point range) and 6.3 rebounds, while shooting a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the three games on the week. Durant had a pair of 25-plus point games to begin the week, scoring 27 points in a 22-point, fourth-quarter, comeback win over the Kings, followed by a 26-point outing in a win over the Pelicans. He capped off the week with a game-high 40 points and 9 rebounds in a win over the Pacers, becoming the first player in franchise history with 40-plus points and zero free throw attempts in a game.

"Just over the halfway point of this season, Durant is averaging 29.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists while shooting 53.2% from the field and 47.0% from the three-point line. He’s scored 1,021 points through his first 35 games of the season, the most in franchise history and the fourth-most he’s scored through the first 35 points of a season for his career."

Phoenix is currently riding a five-game winning streak and play host to the Chicago Bulls later tonight.
