Kyrie Irving Still a Possibility for Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns have done a stellar job assembling talent in the last few years.
After drafting Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, the Suns have acquired names such as Chris Paul and Kevin Durant through trade.
They've reached heights such as the 2021 NBA Finals and a franchise record in regular season wins in back to back years, yet no championship has made its way back to the Valley.
While the jury is still out on Phoenix's hopes to win a title in 2022-23, the Suns are still very much in the market for adding talent through the lineup.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Suns and Los Angeles Lakers have been frequently mentioned in league inner circles as suitors for Irving this offseason.
Irving was initially a target for the Suns before he was dealt from the Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks.
Phoenix has been rumored to be looking for future options at the point guard position past Paul.
Paul (37-years-old) is currently averaging career lows in points (13.5), steals (1.6), field goal percentage (43.2%) and field goal attempts (11.2) per night.
Next season, Paul's guaranteed money drops from $28.4 million to $15.8 million. New owner Mat Ishbia has been very adamant that money won't be a problem for the Suns moving forward, so a potential departure could be on the horizon if they're able to find a youthful upgrade at the point guard spot.
Irving fits that bill thanks to his previous experience with Durant and overall abilities as a scorer and passer.
