Phoenix - currently 39-29 on the year - hopes Thomas will wear multiple hats while in the Valley, as his leadership for a Suns team still piecing themselves together while backup point guard Saben Lee only has four games left before his status as a two-way player is up.
The Suns have just over ten games remaining on deck in the regular season, and as The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin points out, a team can sign a player to two 10-day contracts before having to sign him to a standard deal if the team wants to keep the player on the team.
Thomas is expected to be available tonight as the Suns battle the Philadelphia 76ers.
