Suns PF Jae Crowder Finally Speaks on Trade Speculation
Phoenix Suns power forward Jae Crowder has not played a minute of NBA basketball.
Not in training camp with the team. Not during the preseason. And not during Phoenix's 3-1 stretch to open the regular season.
Crowder and the Suns mutually agreed to his absence before Media Day as the team is in search for a trade partner.
Entering the last year of his contract, Crowder's name has been churning through the rumor mill at rampant pace since the opening stages of summer.
First being a trade piece for guys such as Kevin Durant and Bojan Bogdanovic, Crowder's reason for movement then shifted after reports of Phoenix telling him he would not start or finish games with Cam Johnson filling that role.
It was an offseason full of tweets from Crowder himself declaring his desire to move on, and the Suns looked as if they were on the same page.
Crowder has been relatively quiet since training camp, but during Tuesday's broadcast of Phoenix's win over the Golden State Warriors, TNT insider Chris Haynes revealed a conversation with the power forward that offered some clarity:
“Honestly, this is unfamiliar ground for me. This is my 11th year and I’ve always been in camp and started the year off with my team," said Crowder.
"The business of basketball has taken its course and changes have come. I do not want to get into the details just yet, but it’s definitely not true of the narrative being pushed about me starting or not. I can honestly say that. I had two great years with my teammates and the fans of Phoenix. I do not take that for granted. I’m forever grateful for the moments we shared.'”
