Suns Reportedly Interested in Kevin Love
The Phoenix Suns have already made a handful of moves to improve their roster, yet there's still a possibility they're not done.
The Suns are one of the reported teams interested in Kevin Love, who is expected to reach a buyout with the Cleveland Cavaliers according to ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst.
"A team in the Western Conference that I'd keep an eye out for: the Phoenix Suns. The Suns have been doing some background research into Kevin over the last 24 hours, and don't forget James Jones - the team president - was teammates with Kevin Love when they won the 2016 championship with the Cavs. The new look Suns have a roster spot, have a bunch of money they can still pay their free agents, so keep an eye on the Suns as a contender for Kevin Love," said Windhorst on SportsCenter.
Ish Wainright's two-way contract officially ends today, and the Suns could indeed look to use the services of Love on their squad with the open spot.
Though he hasn't been killer in terms of numbers this season (8.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per night), Love is still a proven veteran that could bring a valuable asset for Phoenix off the bench.
Hindered by a thumb injury, Windhorst did point out that, "Love is shooting 38.9% overall and 35.4% from 3-point range, his lowest numbers since 2012-13, when he was recovering from a hand injury."
Recently, the Suns acquired players such as Kevin Durant, TJ Warren, Darius Bazley and Terrence Ross in hopes of bolstering their lineup from top to bottom.
Phoenix is 32-28 heading into the All-Star break.
