Suns Reportedly in Serious Talks for Bradley Beal
The Phoenix Suns have been connected with a handful of star players since the days of the trade deadline. Such is life when a new owner - who is clearly looking to spend money - takes over a team and has already made splashes such as trading for Kevin Durant and firing head coach Monty Williams.
Everyone from Kyrie Irving to Fred VanVleet has been named as the Suns look to add to their roster.
However, Phoenix apparently is in serious talks for the talents of Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal. They're one of two teams (along with the Miami Heat) to be considered finalists
In a new tweet, NBA insider Shams Charania reported the following:
"Developing: Washington is in serious talks with two finalists – Miami and Phoenix – on a Bradley Beal trade, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The Suns have emerged as a serious threat for Beal, who holds a no-trade clause."
Beal is one of the hottest names on the trade market after signing a 5 year / $251,019,650 contract with the Washington Wizards, including $251,019,650 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $50,203,930 according to Spotrac. In the 2023-24 season, Beal will earn a base salary of $46,741,590, while carrying a cap hit of $46,741,590 and a dead cap value of $46,741,590.
Beal has averaged at least 23 points per game the last five seasons in Washington. He will be 30-years-old in the upcoming season.
The Suns will have to do some major financial maneuvering to take on Beal's contract. If true, Phoenix is surely going to have to move on from the likes of Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton.
Will Phoenix be able to pull off their own version of a big three with Beal, Durant and Devin Booker?
That possibility is a serious one, supposedly.
