Suns Rival Lands James Harden in Blockbuster Trade
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns better get used to beards.
In the late hours of the night, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Los Angeles Clippers had acquired James Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers.
Full trade (as reported by Woj):
Clippers get: James Harden, PJ Tucker and Filip Petrusev
76ers get: Marcus Morris, Nic Batum, Robert Covington, KJ Martin, a 2028 unprotected first-round pick, two second-round picks and a pick swap. "The Clippers are also routing the 76ers an additional future first-round pick from a third team," according to Wojnarowski.
To make room for the trade, the 76ers are waiving veteran guard Danny Green.
The move arrives after a long offseason of drama between Harden and the 76ers, a relationship the shooting guard believed was beyond repair. The Clippers - looking to keep pace with the rest of the stacked Western Conference - were a heavily rumored destination for the Arizona State product.
Now, Harden aligns with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in Los Angeles.
The former MVP and ten-time NBA All-Star hasn't played this season but could be landing in Los Angeles as soon as Tuesday, according to ESPN:
"Harden is 'ecstatic' to be going to the Clippers and is hoping to fly to Los Angeles as soon as possible, sources close to him told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. There's a chance he is in attendance Tuesday night for the Clippers' home game against the Orlando Magic."
The Suns and Clippers will first meet on Jan. 3 in Phoenix for the first of four matchups.
