Suns Sign Thaddeus Young
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns are signing free agent forward Thaddeus Young for the rest of the season, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
"Free agent F Thaddeus Young is finalizing a deal to join the Phoenix Suns, sources tell ESPN. More veteran, frontline depth for the Suns’ stretch and playoff run. Young has spent the past two-plus seasons with the Toronto Raptors."
The Suns were in search of forward help at the trade deadline, which ultimately landed them Brooklyn Nets forward Royce O'Neale and David Roddy from the Memphis Grizzlies in a three-team deal.
After Phoenix sent out Yuta Watanabe, Chimezie Metu, Keita Bates-Diop and Jordan Goodwin, the Suns had two open roster spots available - one of which is now filled by Young.
Last week, our own Kevin Hicks highlighted Young as a "dream" buyout candidate.
"Young has been linked to the Suns for several years now - and for good reason. The versatile big man is known for being an all-around force, even with age based regression," wrote Hicks.
"Young shrinks the floor in half-court settings and is clearly not the defender he once was. He remains a quality passer, connector, and high-IQ team defender - especially in a team infrastructure such as the Suns'.
"Phoenix could do far worse than Young as an alternative to Drew Eubanks off the bench."
Young was dealt to the Nets from Toronto and was waived after arriving to Brooklyn at the trade deadline.
