Suns Sound Off on Bradley Beal Injury
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns dropped another game on their schedule, this time to the New York Knicks in a Friday night showdown.
The loss signified a handful of things - the Suns now are one game away from again being a .500 team while they've found a forgettable form in dropping their last six-of-eight.
Perhaps worst of all: Their injury woes continue.
With 7:28 left in the first quarter, Beal was fouled by New York Knicks player Donte DiVincenzo on a jump shot before landing down awkwardly and reaching for his ankle.
Beal left action and quickly was ruled out for the remainder of the night.
After the game, Frank Vogel told reporters x-rays were negative and Beal had just a sprained ankle.
"Injuries are part of the game and [we're] disappointed for him. He's worked really hard. You could see the disappointment on his face in the back," Vogel said post-game.
"That's my biggest concern is just keeping him lifted. He'll get back soon enough but it's been a frustrating injury type of season for him. In terms of us, injuries are part of the game. So we can't get caught up in that. It's just part of it and you move on."
Beal played just five full games after dealing with lower back injuries through the first quarter of the regular season. Phoenix's big three of Beal, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker have played just one game together, and it appears that number will remain for the foreseeable future.
"Urgency and patience, right? They contradict each other but both are needed," said Vogel. "We got to have the big picture patience to work together in order to get it going in the right direction and we got to have the urgency to get it done as soon as possible."
Some would say the Suns are snakebit. Don't tell that to Durant.
"You trying to say bad luck? You believe in that? I don't even look at life that way. Sh-- happens, that's a part of it. We got a great training staff. He got great support behind him. He'll be back out there but we got bad luck? I don't believe in that," said Durant.
"No negative feeling. Just next man up. This is pro sports. We've been a part of it for a long time guys get injured. Sh-- happens. I think we rallied around each other at the end of the first half and play some solid ball."
The Suns host the Washington Wizards on Sunday.
