Suns, Wizards Reportedly Finalize Bradley Beal Trade
The Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards have finalized their previously agreed to trade, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The deal involved Bradley Beal, Jordan Goodwin and Isaiah Todd heading to Phoenix in exchange for Landry Shamet, Chris Paul, a slew of second-round picks with future pick swaps as well.
Wojnarowski says the final deal involved six second-round draft picks and four first-round pick swaps. "Suns are sending seconds in 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2030. Pick swaps in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030," he put in a tweet.
The Suns are also reportedly sending an undisclosed amount of cash in the deal.
The trade - which initially was reported on Sunday - took some time to finalize as the Wizards were looking for a new landing spot for Paul, who was just dealt to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Jordan Poole and other assets according to The Athletic's NBA insider Shams Charania.
There was some speculation that the Wizards were looking for a third team to complete their deal with Phoenix, but Wojnarowski says the two trades were separate.
Things happen quite fast in the NBA, as last week the Suns were reportedly weighing the option of waiving Paul rather than trading him. There could be even more movement tonight during what's expect to be a hectic 2023 NBA Draft.
The Suns have officially pushed all their chips to the middle of the table with Beal's acquisition, netting a prominent third scorer behind Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
The status of Deandre Ayton remains up in the air, as he could either remain with the team to form a strong core of four players or could be dealt in exchange for a handful of valuable depth pieces.
