Report: New Suns Signing Will Play vs 76ers
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns are expecting to have new guard Isaiah Thomas available for Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Arizona Sports insider John Gambadoro.
"Isaiah Thomas is expected to be a available for the Suns for the 76ers game on Wednesday," he reported on Twitter/X.
Thomas reportedly inked a ten-day deal with the Suns last week but the move has yet to be made official. He's a former two-time All-Star and recently has played in the G League.
Thomas' eleven years of experience should bring more help and stability to a Suns team that could use all the help with continuity, steadying the boat, etc. as the postseason nears, as Phoenix has been entirely up-and-down during the 2023-24 season.
More from HoopsRumors on Thomas' arrival to the desert:
"If his contract begins when the team returns home on Wednesday, he would be eligible for six games over the following 10 days. A second 10-day deal would take him close to the end of the season, but the Suns would have to give him a standard contract to make him eligible for the playoffs.
"Phoenix has a roster opening, so a corresponding move won’t be necessary to make room for Thomas, who will earn $183,704 over the course of his 10 days with the team. The Suns will take on a cap hit of $116,075."
Thomas will compete with Saban Lee for backup point guard duties. Eric Gordon has been a strong presence off Phoenix's bench with Bradley Beal and Devin Booker starting.
The Suns play host to the 76ers on Wednesday before returning on Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks.
