Report: Suns Prepared to Pursue Kevin Durant
The Phoenix Suns missed out on the Kyrie Irving sweepstakes after the Dallas Mavericks pulled the trigger on a trade that included Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith and multiple draft picks for the Brooklyn Nets point guard.
However, they may not be done showing interest in Brooklyn players. NBA insider Chris Haynes reports the Suns are prepared to pursue Kevin Durant if he becomes available.
If this story sounds familiar, that's because the Suns pursued Durant over the summer. Durant reportedly had Phoenix and the Miami Heat as his top two trade destinations.
Things eventually cooled off between the two sides, and Brooklyn managed to overcome a bad start to eventually piece together a strong rebound to one of the top seeds in the East before Durant sprained his MCL on Jan. 8.
Phoenix has been looking to offload Jae Crowder for months now, so a potential trade would likely include him, one another strong player and a multitude of picks for the superstar forward. The Suns are in control of their draft capital through 2030.
Would Brooklyn want to also offload Durant? With Finney-Smith and Dinwiddie now on the squad, the Nets may feel as if they can still compete in the postseason.
However - should he become available - the Suns will be ready to talk once more.
