Report: Warriors Discussing Kevin Durant Reunion
The Phoenix Suns are still considered to be the favorites to land Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant. Other organizations such as Miami and Toronto have also emerged as potential destinations, but a familiar jersey might soon be donned by Durant.
The Golden State Warriors are in talks to potentially bring back Durant, who won two NBA Finals (winning MVP awards in each series) with Golden State.
ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst offered this to say earlier today on "The Dan Patrick Show":
"There's legitimate sources in the league telling me that it's a discussion," said Windhorst. "First off, the Warriors always believe in open throttle. The Warriors have shown they don't care what they spend. They spent $350 million this year on this team, and the Warriors have shown they're not afraid to do this. They went out and got Durant in the first place ... I also think it says a lot about Steph Curry ... [This has been a discussion within the Warriors organization. Curry's been asked about it, and Curry gave a non-answer. But he didn't shut it down. He didn't say 'hell no.'"
According to FS1's Ric Bucher, Curry has reached out to Durant "multiple times" about joining the Warriors once again.
Things were already tricky enough for the Suns to land Durant. Now, Phoenix must deal with another knight in the arena.
We'll see if Suns general manager James Jones is willing to bite the bullet to get another superstar along Devin Booker, or if his comments through the offseason on keeping the team together remain true.
