Both the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets are all but set to face each other in the second round of the NBA playoffs.

The Nuggets started off their series with a 3-0 lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves before failing to close Game 4 out, eliminating any hope of a sweep. Phoenix took the opposite route after winning three straight following their Game 1 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

However, both teams have the opportunity to close out their respective first-round series in a Game 5 meeting a home on Tuesday.

The odds of teams failing to advance after establishing a 3-1 lead are low, as teams who reach that lead win the series 95% of the time according to Land of Basketball.

The Suns and Nuggets are likely to meet each other in the second round of the postseason with a trip to the conference finals on the line, so long as neither the Timberwolves or Clippers pull off an upset only seen in Cavs-Warriors fashion.

Today, the NBA released the potential start date for their second-round series:

If the Nuggets-Timberwolves series AND Suns-Clippers series both end in five games, Nuggets-Suns will begin on Saturday in Denver for Game 1.

If either Nuggets-T-Wolves series OR Suns-Clippers series finishes in six/seven games, the winners of each respective series would first meet each other on Tuesday, May 1.

The Nuggets are the West's No. 1 seed and will have homecourt advantage through their entire stint in the Western Conference. The Suns - currently holding the No. 4 seed - would have to bank on a Timberwolves upset to have homecourt in the second round.
