Tankathon Mock Spin: Could Surprise Faller Land on Rising Team?

Leveraging Tankathon to simulate an NBA Draft Lottery spin, let’s take a look at a potential mock of the first 14 picks.
In this story:

Oklahoma City is quickly emerging in the NBA, with another chance at a top prospect in the 2023 NBA Draft. The Thunder will have a lottery selection to add to its exciting young core.

With the twelfth highest odds for the May 16 lottery, it’s most likely that Oklahoma City’s pick lands exactly at No. 12 overall. However, there’s always scenarios in which the selection ends up being much higher, or even lower.

Here is a randomly generated mock draft presented via Tankathon, along with an example of how those picks could play out:

The Result:

The Picks:

1. Victor Wembanyama (Portland Trail Blazers)

2. Brandon Miller (Detroit Pistons)

3. Scoot Henderson (San Antonio Spurs)

4. Amen Thompson (Indiana Pacers)

5. Jarace Waker (Houston Rockets)

6. Ausar Thompson (Charlotte Hornets)

7. Cam Whitmore (Orlando Magic)

8. Taylor Hendricks (Washington Wizards)

9. Gradey Dick (Utah Jazz)

10. Cason Wallace (Dallas Mavericks)

11. Jordan Hawkins (Orlando Magic)

12. Anthony Black (Oklahoma City Thunder)

13. Leonard Miller (Toronto Raptors)

14. Keyonte George (New Orleans Pelicans)

Thunder Fit:

Even if the Thunder don't have lottery luck and stick at No. 12 overall, there's always players that fall. Furthermore, the late portion of the lottery almost always produces one of the top players in each class.

Black would be a great fit in Oklahoma City, adding more playmaking and positional size. He does have some overlap in terms of what he provides relative to the existing players on the roster, but he's too good to pass up.
