Former Thunder Forward Signs With Timberwolves For Training Camp
The Oklahoma City Thunder has had plenty of young talents come through the program through its rebuild. The team has given plenty of players a chance to prove themselves and play in a role they likely wouldn't receive on any other NBA team.
One benefit of a rebuild is to give these opportunities to players and potentially catapult their careers.
Vit Krejci is a former Thunder who has had opportunities elsewhere, and he now finds a new home for his talents. According to The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski, Krejci has signed a training camp deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This contract allows Krejci to attend camp on the roster but with a non-guaranteed contract, meaning he will be making the league's minimum salary and can be terminated with no strings attached before the regular season begins.
Krejci would be a unique fit with the Timberwolves. He's capable of stretching the floor for them, which would benefit Anthony Edwards as Rudy Gobert doesn't do that from the center position.
Though Krejci's game has primarily been raw since he's been in the league, he was thrown into the fire in his season with the Thunder. He started eight of his 30 games played and helped the Thunder hobble to the finish line in the 2021-22 season.
As a potential floor spacer and connector, Krejci could be a positive role player for the Timberwolves and is a low-risk guy for the Timberwolves. If he can find his way onto the roster in any capacity, he could prove his value as a perfect role player.
During his lone season with the Thunder, Krejci averaged 6.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He also shot 41 percent from the floor and 33 percent from 3-point range.
Krejci has since gotten an opportunity with the Atlanta Hawks, who moved on from Krejci, allowing him to sign this training camp deal in Minnesota.
