How Steph Curry Injury Impacts OKC Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder have clinched the No. 1 seed before the calendar changes over to April. Now all that is left is the Play-in race as it relates to Oklahoma City. That got a bit more interesting on Friday as Steph Curry was announced to have an injury.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have lapped the field in the Western Conference, posting a 57-12 record to date with a 12.5 game cushion on the No. 2 seed. This has allowed Oklahoma City to clinch the playoffs, clinch the Northwest Divsion and clinch the Western Conference's top seed for the second straight season.

Oklahoma City becomes the second youngest team to ever capture the top seed, only behind of last year's Thunder squad. The home stretch of the Thunder season will be spent trying to get fresh and improvement ahead of what they hope to be a long playoff run.

All that is left to watch for, truly, is the rest of the bracket out West unfolding. Most notably the play-in tournament which will determine the No. 8 seed and thus, the Thunder's first round matchup.

On Friday, the Golden State Warriors received some tough injury news as Steph Curry would be sidelined with Pelvic area contusion which luckily featured no structural damage. However, Curry will miss at least the start of the Warriors upcoming six game road trip.

This could push the Warriors into the play-in tournament as they are currently only holding a 1.5 game cushion over the No. 7 seeded LA Clippers and No. 8 seeded Minnesota Timberwolves who could make a run to a top six spot and push the Warriors into the play-in tournament.

The Play-in tournament features the No. 7 and No. 8 seed playing in round one with the winner going on to be the No. 7 seed to face the No. 2 seed in the first round and the loser going on to play the winner of the No. 9 vs No. 10 seed game to fight for the right to be the No. 8 seed out West.

This injury, depending on how many game Curry has to miss, could be massively impactful for the Oklahoma City Thunder when it comes to its first round draw.
