Jalen Williams Has an Outside Chance at All-Star Game

Jalen Williams could use his scoring ability and defense to earn a nod as an All-Star this season.

Jalen Williams broke out during his rookie season with Oklahoma City. He immediately found his role with the Thunder and eventually earned a starting role.

Williams was a key piece to the Thunder’s core that made the play-in tournament. He played in 75 games averaging 14.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists. With more added depth in OKC and Williams entering his second season he could find even more success this season.

While Williams will have to take a page from teammate Josh Giddey and avoid the second-year slump, he has the opportunity to take a leap.

Last season, Williams finished runner-up in the Rookie of the Year race and now looks to make a jump to other awards and honors. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being the only All-Star for the Thunder last season this year teammates could join him with the honor.

Williams with his scoring and rebounding ability has the chance to make a run at the All-Star Game this season. As a small market team it is more difficult for he players to get into the game, so Williams will have to have a huge first half of next year to ensure he has the chance to earn the votes.

Williams is a strong defender as well, racking up 1.4 steals per game last season. Alongside Lu Dort, Williams was a mainstay for the OKC lineup on both sides of the court.

He has been active on social media that he has added muscle this off-season, which could play into his favor in terms of finding added success this season.

His dunking ability was put on full display last season and his highlight ability could also play to Williams advantage as it could get more eyes on his play, in turn earning him more votes.

While it’s not a likely outcome as without an otherworldly first half of the season, Williams does have the outside chance to make an All-Star game.
