The Oklahoma City Thunder is an intriguing team to watch at the beginning of each season, given the plethora of young talent it has and how intentionally the young talent approaches the offseason for improvements.

Jalen Williams is one of those guys that makes this team so, so intriguing. While he continually played his way into a firm role last season, he had a breakout back half of the season, where he showed great value on both sides of the ball.

Evidently, Williams' versatile game provided exactly what the Thunder's system is able to use, as he was able to guard a variety of positions defensively while adding an offensive package that could compliment any lineup that was on the court.

Everything that Williams did last season proved that he has star potential alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey, without having even played with Chet Holmgren yet, who will make life much easier for him on the court.

Through two preseason matchups to begin the new NBA season, Williams' offseason work and weight room visits are proving to have paid off. His body control, pace and strength are incredibly value when he attacks the rim, which he's incredibly good at. With the added weight and strength, he's even better at defending bigger matchups, which he showed while guarding San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, who is 7-foot-4.

A lot of Thunder players over the last few years have shown capabilities to improve year over year, and it appears Williams was intentional with his workouts and added to what his on-court game can benefit from.

It appears, though in preseason, as if Williams has improved on both sides of the ball, and his star potential will play a crucial role in a stacked starting lineup for the Thunder as they look to continue declaring themselves as a team.
