KJ Williams Fighting For Two-Way Spot as Summer League Wraps Up

KJ Williams has been fighting for a roster spot since he was signed after the draft and he could be in line for one of the two-way spots for OKC.

Oklahoma City has two open two-way contracts remaining and the fight for who will get them is heating up.

One player has been fighting an uphill battle since draft night. After going undrafted KJ Williams signed a deal with OKC out of LSU. The big-bodied Williams has put on a show in his Summer League time.

After being given a chance to showcase his skills, the 6-foot-10 big man has awoken and stolen the show at times during the Thunder’s stint in Las Vegas.

Williams has especially showcased his offensive skills, primarily in the paint. His huge frame and body has helped him continue to dominate inside. On Friday he scored nine points on four-of-10 shooting.

Prior to that on Tuesday Williams showcased his skills going eight-of-13 with 19 points and led the Thunder against the Rockets. Williams also grabbed five rebounds to help in other areas.

With Keyontae Johnson signed to one of the two-ways, Williams is fighting with most of the remainder of the undrafted guys on the roster for the final two spots.

Jared Butler was on a two-way last season, and has been making noise in the Summer League and could compete with Williams and others to take away those spots.

Williams would provide another big body and more chance of depth in the paint, a spot on the floor the Thunder have worked on building in recent signings.
