OKC Thunder: Chet Holmgren’s Full 2022-23 Exit Interview

Chet Holmgren addressed the media for the first time since preseason on Saturday.

After missing his entire first NBA season due to a Lisfranc injury, Chet Holmgren spoke to the media for the first time since preseason last week.

Holmgren spoke about what it was like surveying the team from the sidelines this year, watching his fellow rookie’s debut season and his impending return to five-on-five action.

The full 15-minute interview can be found below:

Drafted second overall out of Gonzaga, Holmgren was set to start at the “five” for Oklahoma City this season. Instead, they saw a carousel of rookies, trade acquisitions and undersized wings.

Next season, though, Holmgren will return to action for OKC, infusing them with his length, shooting and patented rim protection. With the Zags, Holmgren averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 3.7 blocks per game while shooting 60 percent overall, 39 percent from beyond the arc and 72 percent from the line.

In his first Summer League showing, Holmgren exploded for 23 points on 7-for-9 shooting, seven rebounds, four assists and a Salt Lake City record six blocks.

Suffice to say, the Thunder squad, comprised of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, Jalen Williams and more, are eagerly awaiting his return to action.

The 2022-23 Thunder blew their preseason projected win total of 23 games out of the water, winning 41 regular season games and clinching a Play-In berth in the process. With Holmgren inserted into the lineup, the sky's the limit for the 2023-24 Thunder.
