Thunder's Mark Daigneault Takes Home NBCA Coach of the Year Honors

The Oklahoma City Thunder ripped off 57 wins in the 2023-24 NBA regular season leading to them nabbing the top seed and Mark Daigneault taking home coach of the year honors.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (57-25) became the youngest team (23.9) to ever clinch the No. 1 seed, getting the top line for just the second time in their renowned history, turning in the third most wins in Thunder history during the 2023-24 campaign.

This marks the second straight season with a 15-plus win improvement as the Thunder turned last season's 40-42 squad into a 57-win team with largely the same roster banking on internal development and the debut of Chet Holmgren.

A large part of this success has been their bench boss Mark Daigneault who has taken this team from 22 wins his first season all the way to 57 wins with a consistent approach that has led to this young team buying into everything he is selling.

The Thunder's sideline pacer is young in his own right at just 39 years old he has already proven to be one of the best coaches in the league as he enters his first playoff series prowling the hardwood.

Daigneault will make this debut with some hardware as the Thunder head man collects the National Basketball Coaches Association's NBA Coach of the Year award.

This award is voted on by the other NBA coaches, showing how well respected Daigneault is by his peers. The Thunder bench boss is also the favorite to take home the NBA Coach of the Year award voted on by the writers covering the league which will be handed out at a later date.

Up Next, the Oklahoma City Thunder will open up their postseason on Sunday, April 21 in Game 1 of their first-round series against a to-be-determined opponent as the Thunder await their matchup from the play-in tournament.
