OKC Thunder Shoot Past Grizzlies in Sunday's Win
On Sunday the Oklahoma City Thunder (45-19) put their league-best eight-game home winning streak on the line against the banged-up Memphis Grizzlies (22-42). The Thunder offense started early and ran often against the Grizzlies with a 13-3 jumpstart in the first frame to put Memphis away early.
Oklahoma City would parlay that start into a 20-8 scoring run after Memphis' timeout before going on a separate 15-0 scoring sprint in the second frame.
Josh Giddey led the way in the first quarter, racking up 11 quick points while being put on triple-double watch before intermission with seven rebounds and already a trio of assists. Giddey finished the game with 16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals needing to play just 19 minutes in this wire-to-wire win.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continued to be the model of consistency scoring 15 first-half points on his way to 23 points, six assists and two rebounds in just 27 minutes of work.
Cason Wallace made impressive contributions off the pine, needing just three quarters to get to double-figures before being highlighted in the final frame to grab a new career-high. Wallace finished with 22 points, four assists, two rebounds and a block.
Jalen Williams did leave this game early with what the OKC Thunder are calling a right ankle sprain. Williams took two separate trips to the locker room during the first half, the second trip holding him out for good after he spilled into a camera person on the baseline and immediately hobbled to the tunnel.
Up next, the Oklahoma City Thunder will continue their homestand by welcoming the Indiana Pacers to the Paycom Center on Tuesday.
