‘Capable of Anything’: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Gets Candid with NBA Today about Thunder Title Chances
The Oklahoma City Thunder (43-19) are atop the Western Conference standings. While some hold reservations about how far they can go this season, their superstar is confident in a deep playoff run.
Two-time All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander joined Malika Andrews' on The Jump for an exclusive sit-down interview. In a rare one-on-one interview, Gilgeous-Alexander showed how confident he is in the OKC Thunder organization.
The max contract point guard was asked five years from now what would be a successful run. "If we win an NBA Championship," Gilgeous-Alexander replied. Could that happen this season? "I think we are capable of anything."
This Thunder team represents the youngest team in the NBA weighted by minutes played, and Gilgeous-Alexander understands how special that is.
"No knock on my first year in the NBA, it was amazing, but that was the first time in my life I was on a team with older guys, guys with kids, and a family. This team feels like a college team, like a high school team, like an AAU team."
Oklahoma City owns a top-five defensive (5), offensive (3), and net (2) rating this season and has consistently looked like one of the best teams in the league.
The Western Conference will be a dogfight as it is tough to find an overwhelmingly favorable playoff matchup for any team. With a wide-open postseason on deck, it's anybody's conference.
