Report: Vasilije Micic’s NBA Interest Continues to Rise
As it relates to the top basketball talents around the world outside of the NBA, Vasilije Micic is one of the best. A decorated guard, his draft rights are owned by the Oklahoma City Thunder via a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2020 and has been a candidate to make a jump to the NBA for several years now.
That potential jump took one step closer to becoming a reality last week, as he took a trip to Oklahoma City to meet with the front office. While no deal was or is imminent, that indicated the level of interest in coming to the NBA is becoming more real.
As first reported by Eurohoops.net, Alper Yilmaz (GM of Anadolu Efes, which is Micic's club in Turkey) has further confirmed his interest in joining the NBA.
“We are following the developments after yesterday’s draft. Micic really wants to go to the NBA. He has an option on his contract until July 20. I don’t know if he will make another request. We are waiting for Micic for now,” Yilmaz said.
Thunder GM Sam Presti was asked about Micic in a press conference on Saturday, who didn’t have much of an update but did confirm the OKC visit was a step in the right direction.
Whether it’s with the Thunder, or his draft rights are traded, there seems to be a real chance that Micic is in the NBA next season.
