Thunder vs. Celtics: Series Outlook
The Thunder will be taking on the Celtics at home Tuesday night, as it marks the first contest of two between them on the season.
Last year, the teams split the season series at one win apiece, as Boston currently wins the all-time matchup, holding a 78-65 advantage. The Thunder could chip away at that Tuesday evening, as Oklahoma City is visibly growing and adapting to the challenges around the NBA.
As the youngest team in the league, they can be easy to slight — but players and teams are now recognizing the level of talent the Thunder holds currently.
Not in one or two years, Oklahoma City’s capabilities as an energetic and mindful young team continue to rise with each passing game.
The Thunder went 10-3 in December, and now open up the new year against the top team in the East in the Celtics.
Flaunting a 10-2 record themselves in the previous month anchored by their 26.9 point-per-game scorer Jayson Tatum, the Celtics are a prime force and the front runner in the Eastern Conference currently.
But Oklahoma City did get the best of them in their last matchup, as a 150-117 blowout on the Thunder’s home floor saw them defeat the 56 combined points from Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
And this was in the absence of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, as the victory came in large part from Josh Giddey, Jalen Williams and Lu Dort — who all combined for 69 points in the win.
This one Tuesday night will be much different, as both teams are rolling and continually vying for the top spot in each conference.
