Anthony Edwards 'scared' and 'nervous' in first game back from injury
Anthony Edwards took off from the top of the key, ran towards the basket and threw down a put-back dunk on a missed 3-point attempt by Naz Reid.
His hip sure looked fine.
Edwards was making his return to the Timberwolves lineup Wednesday night, scoring 17 points while playing a team-high 37 minutes in a 102-94 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Edwards did get off to a slow start, but settled in during the second half, making a few splash plays like the fourth-quarter put-back slam.
After the game, Edwards shed light on how he felt coming back from the hip injury, telling reporters he wasn't in much pain but that he was playing a little nervous early on.
"Not a lot of pain. Just scared. Nervous. I didn't want to do too much," Edwards said, via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. "That was the main thing."
As Edwards loosened up during the second half, so did Minnesota, which flipped the script after trailing by seven points at the half.
Edwards' efforts helped the Wolves win their fifth straight and improve their NBA-best record to 16-4.
