NBA legend Isiah Thomas: Wolves have 'all the pieces'
Count Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas among the Timberwolves’ believers.
Thomas was asked on NBA TV who he thinks is best equipped to win the Western Conference between the Wolves, Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks.
Thomas didn’t hesitate an instant before saying Minnesota.
“Minnesota has all the pieces,” he said. “They have size, they have intelligence, they play well together and then they (are) tough. KAT is healthy. He and Gobert, they create a problem. Then they got the one that nobody can stop, Edwards, Ant Man, he’s on a different level.”
The Wolves are currently in first place in the West with an 19-5 record, which is tied with the Boston Celtics for the best record in the NBA.
But what Thomas really likes about the Wolves is that “they zag when everybody else is zigging.”
“Everybody else is shooting the 3, everybody else is playing formula basketball. … They’re playing basketball by math,” Thomas said. “Minnesota and their coaching staff right now, they’re saying, ‘How can we win the game?’”
Minnesota can get to 20 wins when they visit the Miami Heat on Monday night.
