Report: Wizards rejected Wolves offer for Tyus Jones
According to Action Network's Matt Moore, the Washington Wizards rejected an offer from the Timberwolves for point guard Tyus Jones.
The Timberwolves have been in the market for a backup point guard, and Jones more than fits the bill as he's in the midst of a career-best year, averaging 12.1 points, 6.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. Jones, 27, could also be a potential successor to Mike Conley, 36, who will be a free agent after the season.
But the Wizards apparently didn't like the Wolves' offer for Jones, and Moore also reported that Jones, who's on a $14 million contract that's set to expire at the end of the season, is looking for "starter money" from his next NBA team.
Moore reported that the Wizards are looking for a first-round pick for Jones. The Apple Valley graduate started his career at the Wolves, who drafted him in 2015, before he left to join the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019.
It was reported earlier this week that the Wolves are looking at other point guards besides Jones, including Monte Morris and Bones Hyland.
