Will Karl-Anthony Towns play in Timberwolves-Thunder showdown?

Towns did not play well in Minnesota's first meeting with OKC.

After missing Minnesota's road victory over the Kings on Saturday, Karl-Anthony Towns could be back on the court Tuesday night in a showdown between the two of the top teams in the Western Conference.

Towns, with left knee soreness, is questionable for the tilt in Oklahoma City between the Thunder (18-9) and Timberwolves (22-6). Minnesota enters play Tuesday with the best record in the West and the Thunder are third, just behind second-place Denver (22-10).

The Timberwolves defeated OKC 106-103 in their only meeting earlier this season. The Thunder were full strength while Minnesota played without elite defender Jaden McDaniels, who has since returned from a sprained ankle and will be on the court Tuesday night.

Towns did not play well in the first game against the Thunder. He finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but shot just 2 of 8 and had six turnovers.

In fact, it was Minnesota's bench, not the starters, who fueled the come-from-behind win over OKC on .... Anthony Edwards, Towns, Mike Conley and Nickeil Alexander-Walker were a combined 13-of-45 shooting (28.9%).

The reason the Timberwolves won that game was largely because Naz Reid and Troy Brown Jr. combined for 32 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including 6 of 8 from 3-point range.

Tuesday's game tips off at 7:10 p.m. CT.
