Blazers’ Scoot Henderson Earns Huge Honor at NBA All-Star Weekend
Portland Trail Blazers star guard Scoot Henderson earned huge honors for the 2025 NBA All-Star weekend.
Henderson has been named to the 2025 Rising Stars game.
It will be his second appearance in the games after being named to the 2024 roster.
Henderson will join other second-year standouts like Victor Wembanyama, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Amen Thompson.
The Blazers likely won't have an All-Star this season, so this is the closest they will get to having one of their players representing their team during All-Star weekend.
Henderson has had a solid year for the 13th-seed Blazers. In 39 games, he is averaging 12.4 points per game, 2.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.1 stalls while shooting 42.8 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from three in 26.6 minutes of action.
Portland selected the 20-year-old in the 2023 NBA Draft with the No. 3 overall pick.
Henderson was a five-star recruit who played for the NBA G League Ignite for two seasons before entering the NBA.
On Nov. 12, Henderson became the second youngest player in Trail Blazers history to reach 1,000 career points (20 years, 283 days) and has 10 career points/assists double-doubles which is five more than any other second-year player.
Reaching a career-high 39 points on Jan. 14 vs. Brooklyn, Henderson became the 25th player in NBA History aged 20 years or younger to score 39 points or more in a game.
While Henderson's selection to the team is huge for the Blazers, Portland's top pick from the 2024 draft, center Donovan Clingan, was left out of the pool of 10 rookies.
Although Clingan has been solid, he has missed one too many games for the Blazers this season. Prior to Tuesday, he had only played 33 out of a possible 46 games.
Still, Clingan has been stellar, averaging 5.4 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks while shooting 51.2 percent from the field in 16.8 minutes.
The Rising Stars game will feature four teams competing in a tournament of three games (including a Semifinals and Championship Round).
Each game will be played to a “target score" (Semifinals to 40; Championship to 25). Three teams will consist of 7 players each, selected from a pool of 21 players by NBA assistant coaches
The Rising Stars rosters will be determined via a draft on Feb. 4.
